The Colin Nativity – Monday 21st December from 7.30pm

The Colin Nativity – Monday 21st December from 7.30pm

Colin Neighbourhood Partnership is delighted to be working again with Partisan Productions to create a unique and beautiful community theatre event – The Colin Nativity. This production will see a contemporary take on the traditional nativity play. Involving local people working alongside professional actors, singers and musicians, this joyful production offers the hope that, even when times are at their hardest, there is no need to accept despair and that the power to transform this life and this world is born in the heart as it was born in the corner of a stable. Taking place from 7.30pm on Monday 21st December, The Colin Nativity will be staged in and around the Dairy Farm Shopping Centre and the Colin Community Hub on the Stewartstown Road. We would very much like local people to get involved with the production, please contact John Paul Russell at Colin Neighbourhood Partnership on 028 9062 3813 or email johnpaul@newcolin.com for information. There will also be family craft workshops based around the nativity production, taking place the week beginning Monday 7th December.  For more information contact Gina at Colin Neighbourhood Partnership on 028 9062 3813 or...

Construction Director appointed

Construction Director appointed

The newly appointed Construction Director, Andrew Stevenson, has had over 40 years experience working in construction, he has moved from the global infrastructure giant AECOM to head up the construction programme for Colin Town Centre. Andrew told us about his new role on the Colin Town Centre Urban Village Project. Why did you join the CTC team? “I was looking for a new challenge! As well as being a construction professional I have also been involved in community regeneration projects and found it very worthwhile work. The proposals for Colin Town Centre (CTC) really appealed to me and I wanted to put my skills into making it happen.” What’s your vision for Colin? “The Urban Villages programme brings a new approach to regeneration that puts community consultation central to ensure that expectations are met. My aim is to deliver a new physical town centre that will bring with it better opportunities in a much improved quality of environment, and this should be shaped by the people of Colin.” What will you be doing? “My role is to oversee the delivery of the building programme from start to finish. I will coordinate the necessary approvals for funding, planning, getting building design underway, and ultimately contractors on site to build the new facilities. Working well together will be key to successful delivery.” What are your early priorities? “I will be spending time at the Colin Community Hub and around the site of the proposed new town centre, to get know the area better. I will be working with all the different people with an interest in the CTC project to get the work underway just as soon as possible.” Do you have a question about the Colin Town Centre development for Andrew? Post your question on the contact page or sign up to be kept informed about developments today.     ABOUT THE URBAN VILLAGES INITIATIVE: The Colin Town Centre (CTC) project was announced as an Urban Village in March 2014. CTC is one of five Urban Villages, four in Belfast and one in Derry. The Urban Village initiative is part of the NI Executive’s Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC) strategy, and provides a new approach to supporting regeneration at a neighbourhood...

St. Colm’s pupils show creative input for Colin’s future

St. Colm’s pupils show creative input for Colin’s future

Year 11 pupils from St. Colm’s High School recently took part in our Digital Media Workshops and produced videos to express their hopes and views for the future of the Colin Town Centre. During the workshops the students received training from NerveBelfast on how to record, edit and mix both video and audio as well as gaining experience in using ipads and a number of industry standard applications. The culmination of their work was showcased earlier this month at a special event at the school where students, staff and parents were invited along to view the videos and to hear about the work they had undertaken and congratulate them on receiving their certificates of achievement. Everyone was very impressed by their work and the valuable insight they provided of the views of young people from the area and how the community will benefit in the future from the development of the Colin Town Centre. Pictured are the pupils, Head of Year 11 and Principal of St. Colm’s High School along with staff from NerveBelfast, Gavin Shivers from the Paul Hogarth Company and Andrew Stevenson, the Construction Director for Urban...
