Parents’ Week in Colin this October!

Parents Week in Colin runs from Monday 26th – Saturday 31st October and will feature lots of family friendly events in Poleglass, Lagmore and Twinbrook. Take a look at the programme below, round up the kids, and enjoy some family fun! There will be pumpkin carving, arts & crafts, storytelling, the Leap of Faith Awards, Halloween events and much more.

Parents Week in Colin is organised by Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and Colin Sure Start and is supported by Belfast City Council’s Community Festival Fund.

MONDAY 26th OCTOBER
Fun Day for Parents & Children aged 0-4yrs
10:00am – 12.00noon, Brook Activity Centre, Twinbrook.

A Fun Day especially for parents and young children. Older siblings welcome too! Join us for lantern making workshops, a magic show, Halloween arts and crafts, tots cooking activity, messy play area, soft play area for babies, and balloon modelling! Fancy dress welcome! There will also be complementary therapies and information stalls for parents. Free event.

Autumn Activity Fair
3:00pm – 5:00pm, Dairy Farm Shopping Centre, Twinbrook.

Gather the family for lots of Halloween activities including face painting, petting farm, clay crafts, junk art workshops, bun decorating, story telling and Rhythm and Rhyme. There is a small charge for pumpkin carving or you can bring your own! Free event.

Halloween Spooky Tales – Outdoor Storytelling

Techno Stitch

Tooth Fairy Event
11:30am – 1:00pm, Colin Glen Library.
The tooth fairy will make an appearance to help you learn all about your teeth. There will be story telling, face painting, healthy food samples and free toothbrushes & toothpastes. Make a Bird Box Workshop

Leap of Faith Awards (invite only), Balmoral Hotel, Belfast.
The annual Leap of Faith Awards are a way to celebrate individuals or organisations in the Colin area who have made a positive impact in the world of parenting. The recipients of awards will be announced at this awards ceremony which will be held in the Balmoral Hotel. Award categories include Parent and Carer Awards, Super Foster Carer Award and the Heart of Gold Award.

SATURDAY 31st OCTOBER 

Halloween Storytime
12:00noon – 12:30pm, Colin Glen Library. Come along and hear Halloween themed stories. Fancy dress optional. Free event.

Colin Halloween Parade & Family Fright Night!
Our annual Colin Halloween event has a new look and a new venue this year. Our Halloween trail will move from Colin Glen Forest Park to the gardens of Cloona House. The Halloween Parade will leave the Colin Community Hub at the Laurelglen Shops on the Stewartstown Road at 6.45pm and make its way through Laurelglen Wood to Cloona House gardens for 7.00pm for a Family Fright Night! Here you will experience a spooky magical Halloween trail featuring pirate ships, scary storytelling and a haunted horror crypt!

Parade assembles from 6:15pm at the Colin Community Hub.
Parade leaves Colin Community Hub at 6:45pm and makes its way to Cloona House, Poleglass, via Laurel Glen Wood.
Gates to Halloween trail at Cloona House open at 7:00pm. Participants in the parade get priority entry.

Cost to Family Fright Night: £2 per Adult, £1 per child, family ticket £5, kids under 5 go free.

Please note there is no car parking available at Cloona House.
